As an actor ✨ YOU are your own business ✨
And what does every business need to invest time, energy, and money into… marketing.
Why?
Because marketing:
-Helps people become aware of you and your talents (when they previously didn’t know you existed)
-Helps people get to KNOW you and become FANS of you
An actors marketing materials include;
Headshots
Resume
Reel
Casting Profiles
Some casting directors/agents/managers may become aware of you THROUGH your marketing materials.
Before you ever open your mouth. Before you ever meet them in person (or over zoom).
Your marketing materials may be how they get acquainted with you.
⚡️Do your materials showcase your strengths?
⚡️Do they shine with your special sauce?
⚡️Do they help you stand out in a sea of other talented actors?
I made you this quick video to highlight some CEO questions you need to ask yourself about the strength of your marketing materials.
➡️ How confident are you in the strength of your marketing materials?
➡️ Are you getting the auditions you want? How about meeting with reps you’re excited about?
➡️ Do you cringe when you send someone your casting profile or do you press send with confidence?
So many things are out of your control as an actor… but not your marketing materials.
Since they might be your introduction to casting directors and representation – spend the proper time, money, and energy putting them together so you’re making the first impression you WANT to be making.
⚡️ You’re never victim to the quality of your marketing materials ⚡️
And since they could be the difference maker in you getting the opportunities you’re craving, ya gotta make sure they’re 🔥🔥🔥
They could be the reason someone says “hell yes” or “mehhh” to you. So if they’re garnering a “mehhh” response, lets step up your game so you can start breaking down audition doors (or at least getting that lovely CMail request come through!)
The point isn’t to be “shocking” -> it’s to show off your strengths and show up fully as YOU.
To find out if your marketing materials are doing a good job of representing who you are ask yourself these questions:
⚡️Are my current marketing materials representing the storyteller I am or the storyteller I want to be?
⚡️If I was my own representation, how would I use the tools I have to sell me?
⚡️If I was a casting director who’s never met me before, who would I think I am based off this package and what would my first impression of myself be?
⚡️Do my current marketing materials reflect my castability? Do they showcase the characters and shows I could be cast as today?
⚡️Do they show off my strengths as an actor? If I was my own rep and I got off the phone after pitching me and I sent over my casting profile do the marketing materials I have represent me and act as evidence?
Do you feel confident in your answer to the majority of those questions? Awesome, you go on with your bad CEO self 😎
And if your answers make you want to crawl under the covers and watch endless hours of crappy reality TV… do not fret my friend.
